The following preventive measures are usually followed in DMP area.
Raids :

Slum raids.

Block raids (Either uniform police or police in plain cloth or combined uniform & plain cloth police conduct such raids)
Check post:
DMP often sets some check-posts in different parts of the city with a view to prevent movement of the criminals, recovering illegal arms and ammunitions and to prevent crimes.
Police patrol :
DMP has both vehicle and foot patrols covering almost all areas of Dhaka city with a view to prevent crimes.
Police picket :
DMP deploys police pickets to important buildings, offices, establishments & KPI’S.
Community policing :
DMP organizes community policing by involving local youths with the uniform police with a view to guard the locality, especially at the night.
Collection of intelligence
:
Plain cloth police personnel are engaged to collect advance intelligence on crime, criminals & movement of criminals.
